Yahya Kemal Colege Students Represent North Macedonia at IEO 2026

Vanesa Tomova from Yahya Kemal College Skopje and Georgi Jakovlev from Yahya Kemal College Struga represented North Macedonia at the 9th International Economics Olympiad – IEO 2026 in Shenzhen, China.

The 9th International Economics Olympiad – IEO 2026 was held from 12 to 20 July 2026 in Shenzhen, China.

Two students from Yahya Kemal College were selected as members of North Macedonia’s five-student national team:

Vanesa Tomova, a first-year student at Yahya Kemal College Skopje, and Georgi Jakovlev, a third-year student at Yahya Kemal College Struga.

The North Macedonian team also included Tea Angelova from NOVA International Schools in Skopje, Olivera Dzhambazova from Orce Nikolov High School in Skopje and Stefan Mladenovski from Josif Josifovski High School in Gevgelija.

The North Macedonian team achieved an outstanding result, earning a bronze medal and second place in the IEOx Youth Talks competition.

Tea Angelova received the bronze medal and secured second place, while all members of the team represented North Macedonia with dedication and an excellent performance.

The competition tested the students’ knowledge and skills in economics and finance through multiple-choice and open-ended questions, as well as the preparation and presentation of a business plan.

The national team was guided by Prof. Dr. Aneta Gacovska Barandovska and Teaching Assistant Stevo Gjorgjiev from the Institute of Mathematics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje.

We congratulate Vanesa Tomova and Georgi Jakovlev, all members of the North Macedonian team and their mentors on their successful participation and valuable international experience.

Their participation represents a significant achievement and an inspiration for young people to further develop their knowledge, analytical skills and interest in economics, finance and entrepreneurship.
