Learning in Action at Yahya Kemal Elementary School

At Yahya Kemal Elementary, learning goes beyond textbooks. Through teamwork, research and real-world challenges, students develop creativity, confidence, responsibility and problem-solving skills while taking an active role in their own learning.

At Yahya Kemal Elementary School, students are encouraged to become active participants in the learning process — not only by answering questions, but by exploring ideas, working together and developing their own solutions.

One of the approaches used to support this is Project-Based Learning (PBL), which connects classroom knowledge with real-life situations.

Students work in teams on topics such as clean water, recycling and traffic safety, researching information, collecting data and planning how to present their ideas.
Throughout the process, they create posters, models and presentations while learning how to organize their work, divide responsibilities and solve challenges together. Just as importantly, students practice communicating their ideas, listening to others and supporting their teammates.
These activities help students understand how different school subjects relate to the world around them. Presenting their final ideas also gives them the opportunity to build confidence and see that their thinking can contribute to meaningful solutions.
Through learning experiences like these, Yahya Kemal Elementary aims to develop students who are creative, responsible, collaborative and prepared to engage with the challenges of tomorrow.
